1. Why this exists
Churches use Displayte to put the right thing on screens that families, children and visitors see. This policy, which forms part of our Terms of Service, sets out what isn’t allowed, so that every church can trust the Service and what’s shown with it. It applies to everyone who uses Displayte and to everything they put into it or show with it.
2. Content that isn’t allowed
In short: Nothing illegal, nothing that exploits or endangers children, nothing that isn’t yours to show, and nothing meant to hurt people.
Don’t upload, store, show or share content that:
- sexually exploits or endangers children, in any way. We report apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, as United States law requires, and remove it at once;
- is sexually explicit or pornographic;
- infringes anyone’s copyright, trademark or other rights, including music, films and artwork you don’t have a license to show;
- threatens, harasses or incites violence against anyone, or promotes terrorism or violent extremism;
- attacks people for their race, ethnicity, national origin, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age or religion;
- reveals someone’s private information (such as a home address or medical details) without their permission;
- is fraudulent, deceptive or impersonates someone else;
- contains malware or is designed to exploit a device or program; or
- is otherwise illegal where it’s uploaded or shown.
Churches hold a wide range of beliefs, and teaching, preaching and worship are exactly what Displayte is for. This policy isn’t about doctrine; it’s about content that is unlawful or that harms people.
3. People on your screens
In short: Screens are public. Have permission from the people you show, and a parent’s permission for any child.
What goes on a church’s screens is seen in public. Before your church shows a picture or video in which someone can be identified, make sure it has any consent the law requires, and a parent’s or guardian’s consent for any child. Respect a request from someone who asks not to be shown. Don’t show names together with pictures of children in a way that would let a stranger identify or find them.
4. Using the service
In short: Use Displayte for your own church’s screens, and don’t attack it, overload it, or get around its limits.
Don’t:
- try to get into another church’s account or data, or into parts of the Service you haven’t been given access to;
- probe, scan or test the security of the Service without our written permission (see our Security page to report a problem responsibly);
- interfere with or overload the Service, including by automated requests beyond normal use;
- copy or move a TV’s Displayte credentials to another device, or get around a TV being paused or removed;
- get around the Service’s limits, such as storage allowances or the file types it accepts;
- use the Service to store files that aren’t meant for your screens (Displayte isn’t a general file host or backup);
- resell, rent or sublicense the Service, or use it to run a service for others; or
- help anyone else do any of these things.
5. What we do about it
If we reasonably believe this policy has been broken, we may remove or disable content, stop a screen from showing it, suspend a person’s login, or suspend or end a church’s account, depending on how serious it is. Where we can, and where it’s safe and lawful, we’ll tell the church first, say why, and give it a chance to fix it. We may report illegal content or activity to the authorities.
We don’t review every church’s content before it’s shown, and we aren’t responsible for it; each church is responsible for what it shows.
6. Reporting a problem
To report content or behavior that breaks this policy, email support@displayte.com with what you saw and where. For copyright, follow our Copyright Policy. For a security problem, write to support@displayte.com.
