Add a TV

What you need

• An Apple TV HD or Apple TV 4K on tvOS 17 or later, on the TV it will drive, connected to Wi‑Fi.
• The Displayte app installed on it, from the App Store.
• An owner or admin account in your church’s Displayte. Editors, operators and viewers can’t add TVs; ask an owner or admin.

On the TV

Open Displayte on the Apple TV. Until it’s paired, it shows one screen: a six-character code, like K4M‑7QP, and a QR code beside it. That’s all the TV ever asks for. Nobody types on the TV, and nobody signs in on it.

In the web app

1. Open app.displayte.com on your phone or laptop and go to Displays.
2. Choose Add a TV.
3. Type the code the TV shows, or scan its QR code with your phone’s camera: the same page opens with the code already filled in. Check that the code on the page matches the TV in front of you.
4. Under Where is this TV?, give it a name. The room it’s in works well, and there are one-tap suggestions like Lobby, Kids room and Café. That name is what you’ll see on Displays from now on.
5. Choose Add this TV.

What happens next

The page says the TV is added, and the TV connects in a few seconds: it shows Paired with and your church’s name, once, and then it’s ready. It stays paired from then on, through reboots and Wi‑Fi drops, with no sign-in ever again.

It has nothing to show yet. Go to Displays, find its card, and choose which presentations it plays. It changes within a minute.

Good to know

• Only add a code that’s on a TV in your church, in front of you. Whoever adds a code first gets that TV.
• A code is single-use and expires after ten minutes. If it has expired, the TV shows a new one.
• To move a TV to another church, or to start over, remove it from Displays. It goes back to its pairing screen the next time it connects.
